About the salon
14years in Clifton
We would rather spend twenty minutes talking than five minutes fixing.
Maison Lune is four people in one long room on Princess Victoria Street. The windows face north, so the light stays soft and even all day, and colour looks the same in the chair as it will outside. We cut dry first, because hair falls differently when it is wet: shaping it the way you wear it means no surprises once it dries, and a cut that still looks considered eight weeks later. Then we wash, refine and finish. Nobody is rushed, and nobody is sold a product they do not need.

Kind words
Léa spent ages asking how I actually wear my hair before she touched it. Three months on, it still looks like I just left the salon.
I have curls nobody ever knew what to do with. They cut them dry, one by one, and for the first time my hair dries the way it looked in the chair.
They talked me out of a colour I would have hated and into a gloss that cost half as much. Honest advice is rare. I have been back every season since.
Good to know

- How long does a first appointment take?
- Allow an hour for a cut and up to three hours for balayage. The first twenty minutes are always a conversation, before anything is cut or mixed.
- Do I need a patch test before colour?
- Yes, if you are new to us or have not had colour in six months. It takes five minutes, at least two days before your appointment, and it is free.
- Why do you cut hair dry first?
- Hair sits differently when it is wet. Cutting it dry, the way you wear it, means no surprises once it dries and a shape that grows out evenly.
- What if I need to cancel?
- Tell us a day ahead and there is nothing to pay. With less notice, we may ask for half the price of the appointment.
- Can I bring photos of what I want?
- Please do. Photos of what you dislike help just as much. We will tell you honestly what will work with your hair and your routine.
- Is the salon accessible?
- The salon is on the ground floor with a step-free entrance from Princess Victoria Street. Mention any needs when you book and we will plan around them.
